Irvine Boot Camp – jumping pull-ups

Hey Steve here, broadcasting from my Irvine boot camp, and today I have an awesome exercise that’s going to help you get toned and sexy arms!

Irvine boot camp members want tone arms…

Irvine boot camp tones armsA general concern of the women at my irvine boot camp is, that they want to have tone and sexy arms!  Usually somewhere between the tone of Madonna and Michelle Obama.  Now besides just doing triceps extensions, there are other techniques and exercises that will tighten your arms faster and more effectively.  Let’s take a look at some of those.

1. Nutrtion: eating the right foods and staying away from the bad ones, will determine if we see toned muscles our a thick layer of fat.  The worst food group you should remove from your diet first, is all processed carbohydrates.  That’s all starches, breads, pasta, crackers, cereals, and any other foods that come in a box or was made in a factory.  Doing this step alone will help you reduce your bodyfat dramatically.  Which means, we’ll be able to see those sexy arms!

2. Complex Compound exercises: Now although the word ‘complex’ is in the title, this just basically means, you want to focus on exercises that utilize several muscles in a functional way.  To break it down further, an example would be; do push-ups instead of the chest press machine.  The former challenges far more muscles than using a machine.  Incidentally, at my Irvine boot camp, all exercises performed are complex compound exercises!

3. Correct your posture: Posture always gets overlooked.  Besides helping in preventing future injuries and back pain, having good posture will give your body the appearance of being longer and leaner.  Think about it, if you’re shoulders are pulled back and back is straight, your muscles are going to look rounder and more defined than if you were hunched over, right?  Besides, this is something you can do immediately to give your body the look you’re going for.

The Best Irvine boot camp arm toning exercises

My 2 most favorite arm toning exercises are Pull-ups and Dips. Both of these exercises are complex compound movements and when combined in your workout, will give you great results.  In the video below, I’ll demonstrate how to do a jumping pull-up (since regular pull ups are difficult for most people).  And I’ll cover how to do dips in the next blog.

One of my favorite clients, Pam did me a huge favor and allowed me to film her demonstrating this great arm toning exercise, the jumping pull-up. Most people don’t have the strength to perform a full pull up and that’s why I love the jumping pull-up. You can still get the arm toning benefits and raise your heart rate to kick your body into fat burning mode.

Add the jumping pull-up into your routine by doing 2-4 sets of 15-20 repetitions. Try it out and let me know what you think of this exercise in the comments section below. Keep rockin’ it!
