Hey Steve here! So today, before I left to go workout, I thought of something really important I wanted to share with you and didn’t have enough time to write out a full blog post. I knew that if I opened up my computer to start writing I’d have to skip my workout (a big no-no)… So I killed 2 birds with one stone and made a video for you while I drove to the gym! (don’t try this at home, I love multitasking!).
Now I know this isn’t necessarily legal but I’ve always believed in asking for forgiveness before permission, and it was important to make this video for you!
So, in this video I talk about your fitness mindset and how to break through your mental barriers.

If it’s one thing that we don’t lack, it’s information and advice. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of ways to get fit. Yet the number of people, especially Americans getting overweight and obese continues to climb.
You see, the only difference between those that DO and those that DON’T – is mindset. If your mindset and attitude are strong, you’ll never quit and therefore you’ll ultimately achieve your goals. And since the best way to guarantee you’re going to fail at something is to quit, we should talk about how to prepare your mindset to never, ever quit.
Ps. Be forewarned, the video’s a bit shaky and I’m still getting used to being on video (also my mouth got dry and I didn’t have water) but I threw all that aside to bring you good useful content! So watch the video and below it I’ve listed 3 ways to break your mental barriers and reset your fitness mindset.
(I reference Roger Bannister, the first person to ever break the 4 minute mile and how it relates to your success. Hope you find it useful.)
3 Ways to Break Your Mental Barriers and Reset your Fitness Mindset
- Set an Outrageous Goal – this is so important to your motivation and fitness drive. Its not good enough to say you want to lose weight, its got to be powerful and have a ton of emotions and personal meaning for you to want to get there, here’s an example from a client of mine a few years back: “I want to look good in a bikini for the first time in my life because I’m tired of being the fat one in my group of friends.” … Wow, now that is a powerful driving force. Take time and really develop your driving force and here’s the secret – what reasons are going to get you out of bed at 5:00am to workout before work when all you want to do is sleep?
- Be a Copycat – You’ve heard of the saying, “don’t reinvent the wheel”. Keep it simple by following the steps of successful people. Success leaves clues… and so does failure! Research someone who’s already accomplished what you want and do what they did. This way you get the quickest roap map to your goals minus the detours!
- Take Massive Freakin’ Action – this is the most important step. Remember this, you’ll miss 100% of the shots you don’t take! Once you have your goal in mind, do at least one thing every day that will get you one step closer. Even if it’s doing a set of push-ups, get off your behind and take ACTION!
So there’s your list of 3, thank you for watching my video and please don’t forget to leave a comment!

and my goal is to help 1 million people, just like you, get into amazing shape and improve your life!
Steve, I really enjoyed your video blog. For me, taking the chance was my greatest fear. Over the past 1 1/2 years I have been able to accomplish so many things. I have gone from getting winded walking steps to running a half marathon. You are totally ring in that it was all accomplished with individual steps. I remember my original goal was to loose 25 lbs – now I have lost 100+! I will admit – taking that chance is a constant challenge!!!!
